Buying Guide:
Which Lumene Screen for Which Projection Technology?

Choosing a screen is not just about selecting a size. The screen is the mirror of your projector: it reveals the depth of blacks, the precision of 4K detail, and the brilliance of colors. Whether you are in a bright living room or a dedicated dark room, this guide will help you create the perfect pairing.

UNDERSTANDING THE INFLUENCE OF YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Before choosing, identify your projection area:

Living Room (Common Area): Light-colored walls, windows, ambient light. You need an ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) screen to preserve contrast.

Dedicated Room (Private Cinema): Total darkness, dark walls. You can opt for UHD 4K/8K or Acoustic screens for absolute fidelity.

COMPATIBILITY TABLE

Use this table to identify the screen suited to your projector technology.

FOCUS ON LUMENE TECHNOLOGIES

For Ultra High Definition: UHD 4K/8K Screen

Designed for cinephiles, this screen features a 1-micron structure. It prevents any moiré or grain effect, even on 8K sources. Its gain of 1.3 is specifically calibrated to enhance HDR content, restoring dynamism to bright areas.

Immersive Sound: UHD Acoustic Screen

With 92,000 micro-perforations per square meter, this screen allows sound to pass through without distortion. It is the ideal solution for placing your speakers behind the screen, aligning the sound source with the on-screen action.

Technical note: Its gain of 0.8 enhances deep blacks. It pairs perfectly with high-lumen projectors (>2200 Lumens).

The Challenge of Ambient Light: ALR Screens (Extra Bright)

Ambient light is the enemy of contrast. Our ALR screens use optical micro-structures to reject up to 85% of stray light (ceiling lights, windows) while reflecting only your projector’s beam.

UST Version: For tabletop or furniture-mounted projectors.

Long Throw Version: For ceiling-mounted or rear-projection setups.

EXPERT TIPS

Did you know?

Lumene HD screens use a fiberglass base. Unlike standard PVC, they are not affected by heat or humidity. It is the choice for peace of mind and a setup that lasts for decades.

How to Check Your Choice?

Check the brightness (Lumens): If your projector is low-powered, avoid screens with negative gain (0.8).

Check the throw distance: Never use a UST ALR screen with a standard projector (the image will appear dark).

Check the resolution: A native 4K projector absolutely requires a UHD 4K or 4K/8K screen to avoid limiting its optics.

Special Attention: Triple Laser Technology and ALR Screens

If you have a projector with a Triple Laser (or Tri-Chroma) light source, special attention must be paid to choosing your technical screen.

Using these projectors (such as certain models from Hisense, Valerion, Samsung, or Formovie) with ALR screens, whether long-throw or UST, can create a phenomenon called "Laser Speckle."

What is Speckle? It is a grainy visual effect, similar to fine dust of bright points or a "snowy" effect that seems to sit on the image surface. This occurs when ultra-coherent laser beams interfere with the screen’s optical micro-structures or surface treatment.

Our Recommendations:

For Triple Laser projectors, favor our UHD 4K or UHD 4K/8K screens. Their micro-textured surface is designed to diffuse light more evenly, significantly reducing the perception of speckle.
